It is essential to have peace of mind when building or renovating which is why you need to know that your contractor is fully qualified.  CES are fully licensed electrical contractors and are proud members of the National Electrical and Communications Association (NECA) Australia’s peak electrical industry body.

You should always check the validity of contractor licences on the Fair Trading Register.  

Why check the Fair Trading Register?

The Fair Trading Register provides licence records from current and historical databases about builder and tradespersons licences. It is important to check the builder or tradesperson engaged has a current licence to ensure:

• they have the appropriate qualifications for the work you want done; and
• you have access to the consumer protections provided under the Home Building Act 1989 in the event of problems.

The Consumer Building Guide 

The Consumer building guide is a mandatory document issued by NSW Fair Trading. By law, tradespeople must give consumers a copy of the guide before they sign a contract for residential building work worth more than $5,000.  You can download the guide here directly from Fair Trading NSW.

Public and Products Liability

Workers Compensation Insurance

CES is insured for Workers Compensation.  Limit of liability, unlimited. Contact Us if you require a copy of our Certificate of Currency.

Home Building Compensation (HBC)

Home Building Compensation cover is required by law as per the Home Building Act 1989, for work carried out directly for the home owner in excess of $20,000 including GST.  The period of insurance is two years for unstructured work such as electrical.

As required by the Home Building Act 1989, CES provides Home Building Compensation cover for projects carried out directly for the owner in excess of $20,000 including GST.  Proof of HBC cover is issued once the contract is signed by the client.

CES places WHS at the forefront of its responsibilities to staff, subcontractors, clients and workplace in accordance with statutory requirements.  We have a No Live Work Policy and it is a requirement of our company that all electrical work is carried out using a safe system of work.  This system includes Hazard Identification and Risk Assessments which are completed prior to commencement of work on all sites to ensure hazards are addressed.

 
The safety of our employees is paramount which is why we:

• Access Nationally Accredited and/or WorkCover endorsed training in the areas of Construction Induction; Working Safely at Heights; Elevated Platform; and First Aid
• Furnish employees with personal protection equipment (PPE) as per appropriate Australian Standards.
• Use Safe Work Method Statements for the areas we believe to be critical.  Safe Work Methods are continuously revised or created as the need arises.  Employees are kept informed of Safe Work Methods through weekly Tool Box Talks.
